DFPM/HCI Joint Faculty Hire for Senior Dir. for Community Outreach and Engagement, Rank DOQ
DFPM & Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI)

Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) at the University of Utah is deeply committed to addressing the cancer-related needs of our community through outreach and engagement activities, and in collaboration with community partners. We recently formalized our long-standing service to the 5-state Mountain West (Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Nevada) region by broadening our catchment area. As the only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the region, we feel the responsibility to help all people across these states in the fight against cancer. To expand our leadership team, we are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader who conducts community-engaged research to serve as Senior Director for Community Outreach and Engagement (COE). Applications are encouraged from Assistant, Associate, or Full Professors leading successful, NIH-funded research programs in this area. We are looking for a highly motivated, collaborative investigator who is a leader in their own domain and coordinates an existing group of researchers active in COE activities. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills, an ability to work effectively with community partners, demonstrated experience in development of multidisciplinary teams and multi-stakeholder partnerships, and a broad vision on how to foster COE as an integral component of all aspects of the Cancer Center. The HCI Senior Director for Community Outreach and Engagement will report directly to the Executive Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and to the Chief Clinical Officer at HCI and will have a key role in the development of HCI’s strategic plan in addressing the needs of the catchment area. He/she/they will work closely with all HCI senior directors and clinical leaders, especially the Senior Director for Population Sciences, to ensure that we move the needle in our catchment area.
