Includes a Half-Time Practice

The obstetrics fellowship combines a half-time practice in a community health center system that delivers more than 1,400 babies a year. The rest of your time is spent working with the obstetrical house staff services at LDS, IMC, and University Hospitals. Our fellowship graduates have the skills and experience to apply for cesarean and operative deliveries in most hospital systems. They obtain extensive training in routine and high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.

Work at four Community Health Centers

Our fellowship is unique in that it combines a half-time practice in one of four community health centers (CHC) working as an upper-level obstetrics resident in labor and delivery at a tertiary care center serving a high-volume and acuity population. In your CHC practice you will have a high-volume maternity care practice along with full spectrum family medicine practice. We serve a multiethnic population with about 70 percent of our patients being Hispanic. The combination of taking half-time CHC calls along with delivering many of your own patients would result in approximately 100 to 120 deliveries as a family medicine attending. As a fellow, you would function on a traditional team of residents and students where you will have significant patient care and ample teaching responsibilities.
