Donald M. Pedersen Endowed Chair in the Division of Physician Assistant Studies

AMANDA LEIGH ELROD, PA-C, MPAS

Amanda Leigh Elrod, Chief for the Division of Physician Assistant Studies, is a physician assistant specializing in family medicine at the University of Utah, South Main Clinic, a mission based, inter-professional clinic where she also serves as the Medical Director for the family medicine service. She has a strong interest in serving the medically underserved and educating physician assistant students. Prior to working at South Main Clinic, she worked at the University of Utah, Madsen Family Health Center and in primary care at a private practice in Georgia. She has been working with physician assistant students and various other medical/health profession students since 2010. A. Leigh Elrod, PA-C sits on various University of Utah committees and is interested in the development of inter-professional primary care delivery models to serve the medically underserved and PA education. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, biking, playing golf and watching college football.

KOLAWOLE S. OKUYEMI, MD, MPH

Kola Okuyemi, MD, MPH, is a board certified family medicine physician who specializes in acute and chronic diseases and full spectrum care for patients of all ages. He received his medical degree from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Dr. Okuyemi completed a family medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and obtained a master’s degree in public health while on the faculty at the University of Kansas. He also completed a research fellowship at Morehouse School of medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. His professional interests include improving the health of racial/ethnic minorities and other socio-economically disadvantaged individuals, addressing health disparities/equity, socio-cultural and behavioral risk factors impacting health outcomes, professional development and mentoring. In his leisure time, Dr. Okuyemi enjoys reading, exercise, and spending time with his family. He accepts most insurance plans. At this time, Dr. Okuyemi is not accepting new patients.
