Community Support

Huntsman signing
Governor Huntsman signing SB15 sponsored by
Senator Karen Mayne (left of the Governor) establishing
the Eddie Mayne Funds in support of RMCOEH.

RMCOEH benefits tremendously from the wisdom and support of its advisory board that includes business, labor, insurance, government, trade organizations, and community leaders who share RMCOEH's dedication to improving the safety and health of workers.

Community and legislative support led to passage of Utah Senate Bill 159 in 2005 that allows self-insured employers and workers' compensation insurance carriers to voluntarily donate workers' compensation premium taxes in exchange for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. This legislation was extended through 2020 in 2012.

Subsequent legislation statutorily established RMCOEH as an Occupational Health Center in 2007 (SB234) and established the Eddie Mayne Funds (SB15, 2009 GS) that provide additional support for RMCOEH's educational programs, research, and community outreach.
