WCAG 2.1 Accessibility Compliance for Dissertations/Theses
The Graduate School is dedicated to all aspects of supporting and educating graduate students. As such, while the institutional accessibility compliance deadline has been extended to April 26, 2027, we have been, and are in the process of, ensuring full active compliance with the WCAG 2.1 ruling, which applies to the processing of all submitted dissertations/theses. It is important to recognize that the WCAG 2.1 standard has been in effect since 2018, and the long delay in achieving broad compliance has had a significant impact on a subset of the population. For perspective, please refer to the article, "An Extension Is Not an Excuse" by John Northrup. The Graduate School Thesis Team and the University Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching and Learning have multiple resources available to support the preparation of theses/dissertations under these new guidelines:

UNC Cancer Health Drivers Training Program (CHDP) Seeks PostDocs

In 2026-2027, the Cancer Health Drivers Training Program (CHDP) has six spaces for postdoctoral fellows starting September 1, 2026.
This appointment will last for one year, with the possibility of second year extension.
Open to:
- Recent PhD/DrPH graduates or equivalent
- Researchers with terminal degrees seeking a new research focus
- Physicians who have completed clinical training
Eligible fields include behavioral science, epidemiology, nutrition, public health, and related disciplines.

Join Dr. Megan Petersen and PhD student Jessie Welch-Stockton for an incredible Qualitative Research Opportunity
Qualitative Research Opportunity - Türkiye Earthquake (2023)
On February 6, 2023, Türkiye and Syria experienced two high-magnitude earthquakes. Dr. Shoaf (co-PI) and her team collaborated with University of California Berkley Engineer Researchers and colleagues at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University in Türkiye to gather household level data from residents in Hatay Province. In 2025, Dr. Petersen joined a field team to train and deploy a questionnaire to gather information from impacted residents and their lived experience.
We are seeking two students to assist Dr. Petersen and Jessie Welch-Stockton (PhD student) for a qualitative research opportunity. We will be reviewing and coding 44 interviews that were recorded, transcribed, and translated in Türkiye. We are seeking second reviewers for the primary research. Students with previous qualitative research are highly preferred. This is currently an unpaid opportunity at this stage. It will be a fantastic research experience and a very interesting and insightful topic. If you are interested, please reach out to Dr. Petersen at megs.petersen@utah.edu.

The AJPH Student Think Tank invites students pursuing studies or work in public health to address the following central question as part of this Call for Papers:
How can we reimagine public health education and workforce development to increase engagement and be responsive to public health challenges?
Specifically, we seek papers from diverse experiences and perspectives that address the following thematic areas: Innovative approaches to promote accessibility and engagement in public health education and workforce development.
- How can we make public health more inviting and accessible to a new generation and to people with diverse perspectives (e.g., nontraditional education, rural settings)?
- Who have been your key supporters in public health mentorship, and how has this mentorship supported your journey in public health?

Supervisor, Research Science Management
FMPH - Behavioral Sleep Medicine Team
The Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory (P.I. Kelly Baron, PhD, MPH ) is recruiting a full-time research manager to oversee our NIH funded research study examining sleep and health outcomes, including studies of sleep interventions and sleep health equity. The research manager will be responsible for overseeing the studies in the lab including managing lab personnel activities, overseeing regulatory approval, assisting with purchasing, and study operations, in addition to participation in study operations including recruitment activities and the conduct of study assessments. Opportunities exist for other study activities such as participating in grant writing and publications if desired.

Key Responsibilities
- Leads research staff meetings
- Oversees lab employee scheduling and training.
- Oversees lab practices for participant recruitment and scheduling.
- Oversees the projects compliance with ethical standards for research involving human subjects.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a clinically related field, effective communication skills are required.

Clinical Research Coordinator, FMPH - Behavioral Sleep Medicine Team
Research Coordinator, Behavioral Sleep Medicine
Full-Time | Benefits Eligible
The Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory, led by Kelly Baron, PhD, MPH, is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to support NIH-funded studies focused on sleep, cardiometabolic health, and aging in diverse populations.
This role will lead day-to-day research operations, including participant recruitment and scheduling, study assessments, data collection coordination, participant retention, and supervision of undergraduate research assistants. Research activities are conducted in both English and Spanish and include outpatient studies only (no overnight work). Some evening availability is required (approximately 4-6 evenings per month).
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead research study activities and regulatory (IRB) processes.
- Support NIH reporting and study documentation.
- Recruit, screen, schedule, and retain study participants.
- Conduct research assessments, including questionnaires, cognitive testing, and sleep monitoring procedures.
- Set up, download, and manage sleep measurement equipment.
- Train and supervise undergraduate research assistants.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards for human subjects research.
- Contribute to scientific abstracts and manuscripts as opportunities arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a health-related field (e.g., psychology, nursing, social work, kinesiology, nutrition, counseling, public health, or related discipline).

Graduate Research Assistant, STORRM Research Project

Position Overview
The Surveillance of Treatment Outcomes in Restorative Reproductive Medicine (STORRM) project is seeking a motivated graduate student to support research focused on infertility treatment outcomes. This project tracks demographic and clinical characteristics, treatments, and outcomes, including pregnancy and live birth rates, among subfertile couples receiving restorative reproductive medicine care.

We wanted to reach out with a job opportunity for an MPH alum. My husband (an internal medicine physician) and I (a family nurse practitioner) are both 2019 MPH alumni. Since graduating, we have worked for the Indian Health Service in Chinle, Arizona, on the Navajo Nation. We have openings for physicians and nurse practitioners, as well as nurses and other health professionals. Both he and I work full-time in primary care, but we have found plenty of opportunities to put our public health knowledge to work in this rural and underserved community. We also have a wonderful public health department that is hiring. This job is definitely not for everyone, as Chinle is quite rural in the Four Corners area. We also face challenges with short staffing and longer hiring times because we are a federal facility. However, the job is extremely rewarding and comes with a wonderful built-in community, incredible colleagues, a beautiful setting with many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, and great benefits. It has really been the best job and experience we could have asked for over the last 6 years. Of note, as a federal facility, applicants must be U.S. citizens to be eligible for employment. Your Voice Matters for Family Health
Help improve healthcare for families like yours!
We are recruiting parents of children ages 0-9 to participate in focus groups and share their experiences accessing routine healthcare for their child(ren). This study is funded in partnership with the UDHHS Office of Early Childhood, and its aim is to improve the primary healthcare experience for families.
We would love for any student parents to join us and share their experiences.
Target Demographic: First-Year, First-Generation, Low-Income Graduate Students or College Seniors
Description: To better understand the graduate school pipelines of first-generation, low-income college students, Alexis Rei and Dr. Mikaila Mariel Lemonik Arthur of Rhode Island College are surveying first-year, first-generation, low-income graduate students and college seniors about their graduate school aspirations. This survey takes between 11 and 18 minutes to complete.
The survey is available until November 13, 2026.
