Karen Schliep, PhD, MSPH was recently awarded a K01 award. The grant, titled “Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy and Subsequent Risk of Vascular Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, or Related Dementia: A Retrospective Cohort Study Taking into Account Mid-Life Mediating Factors,” is a five-year grant awarded by the National Institutes of Aging. Dr. Schliep’s research aims to help us better understand why women face a two-fold higher lifetime risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias compared to men.
