TP Singh, BDS, MDS, MPH and Fares Qeadan, PhD announced last week the IRB approval of a research project collaboration between themselves and the University of Utah School of Dentistry (SOD). The study will evaluate the connection between oral health, especially dental caries and periodontitis, and COVID-19. The research project will utilize data collected by SOD patient screenings for COVID-19 and the existing database of health information of over 30,000 SOD patients. In addition to Drs. Singh and Qeadan, SOD researchers Melodie Weller, PhD; Christiane M. Del Fiol, DDS, MS; Barbara L. Dixon, MEd; and Diane Jones will be participating in the project.
